You don’t need a Bachelor’s degree or an Associate degree. You can get a career certificate through Meditec.com and then take the NALA CLA exam. Yes, it’s a GREAT career choice and the pay is very good. It IS a DEMANDING career.

Warning! Jobs in the field of Law are drying up FAST!! This is not a good field to invest time and/or money into. This is a SHRINKING vocational field. Many reasons. THE main reason?……We simply have WAY TOO MANY Legal Professionals – we have an absolute GLUT!! (“Legal Professionals” includes, but is not limited to: Attorneys/Lawyers, Paralegals, Legal Assistants, Legal Secretaries, Bailiffs, Court Reporters, etc, etc)

Regarding being a Paralegal: Employers (usually law firms) in the field of Law want employees with BACHELORS degrees. Those “certificates” aren’t worth the paper they are printed on – they are generally scams.

Even IF you finish law school, you won’t be able to find a job when you are done. Since this vocational field is shrinking, many new attorneys/lawyers are, themselves, having to work “down” as Paralegals, Legal Assistants, Legal Secretaries, Bailiffs, Court Reporters, etc, etc, to simply try to keep some of THEIR bills paid

If you get a Bachelor’s degree from an ABA approved program, it is an excellent choice for a career. The pay can be horrible in the beginning compared to other majors but your pay increases rapidly with experience. I can tell you that my husband is in IT and I am definitely the breadwinner of the two of us.

Starting pay would be about 34,000 depending on where you live… and you work up from there.

Most paralegals have an associates in paralegal studies.

One of a paralegal’s most important tasks is helping lawyers prepare for closings, hearings, trials, and corporate meetings. So if you enjoy law and things of that nature then this would be perfect for you!!
