Can ROTC Officers be full-time career Army officers?

December 28th, 2011
asked:

I am planning to take Army ROTC. Upon commissioning, I do not want to be in a Reserve Unit and attend monthly drills. I want to be a 20-year, career active officer. After my initial 3 or 4-year active obligation, what hoops must I leap through to achieve my goal?

Warehouse Job Search Tips – How To Find Warehouse Jobs

December 26th, 2011
asked:

To be able to succeed in your job search, you need to be able to show your employer the skills that they are looking for. You can do this by preparing for your job interview. However, ordinary preparation for an interview will not be as effective with interviews found in a warehouse job search. Warehouse jobs are unique so they also require a unique way of handling applicants. Therefore, preparation is different then with ordinary preparation for ordinary job interviews.

Here are some effective suggestions to help guide you with your warehouse job search. Follow these tips and you will surely get the position you desire.

Dress Accordingly:

Ditch the suit and the tie, you will not need them. Your interviewer would not be as dressed up as the ordinary interviewers in more formal businesses. Wear something a level higher than your interviewer. A button down shirt, khaki slacks, and leather loafers will do. Make sure that your belt and your loafers have the same color. Bring an additional shirt as there is a chance that the interviewer might ask you lift stuff around the warehouse.

Online Job Search

December 22nd, 2011
asked:

Searching online for jobs through various job search engines is an activity almost everyone indulges in these days. It is a refreshingly new welcome change from going from company to company to ask for vacancies or calling up placement agencies with one’s entire resume details. With online job search engines all one has to do these days is register oneself with one of the more popular job search giants and upload one’s resume. Through highly effective job listing, the job search engines are able to provide the right kind on job for every job applicant registered with them. The listing is done based on various categories like the age of the applicant, if the applicant is a teenager studying in school then the jobs the search engine will search for them will most probably be of part time nature or summer jobs. Listing is also done on the basis of which field the applicant wants a job in and what are his or her qualifications as well as whether he or she wants a job in any specific country or in the place they are currently residing in. To get the maximum output out of the online job search engine, one should make sure that one’s resume is professionally made and clearly states the kind of jobs the person is looking for and in which place. Online job search engines provide the applicant with more than enough job results that the applicant can apply for as well as the company address, contact number or email address, and a detailed description of the nature of the job and the selection procedure. It gives a person all the information that he or she can possibly need to apply and go through a job selection procedure. Not only that, they also provide the applicant with a pre designed resume format which is highly professional. One simply has to fill in one’s details instead of searching around for a proper resume format and uploading it. One can also scan and upload one’s original documents and save themselves from the task of carrying around all of one’s original documents which many a times may even get lost in that process. The best thing about online job search is that one gets to know about the best jobs available in the market at any particular time and they do not have to worry about if they are missing out on something as almost all the multi national companies and agencies are listed there. Also the job search engine provides the applicant with daily and weekly updates regarding what new jobs are available in the market for any particular applicant. The number of jobs that they list for each applicant is more than sufficient and they provide enough variety of jobs for every job seeker registered with them. It is a revolutionary and highly beneficial approach as far as job searching is concerned and all of this is without any cost at all. The service provided by online job search engines is absolutely free of cost.

Job Search

December 22nd, 2011
asked:

If you are looking for a new job here are 5 actions you should be taking on a daily basis and 2 resources to get you started.

Most of the individuals I speak to who are looking for a new job have been searching for at least two months.  When I ask them what techniques, tactics, resources, and professional help they have been using, there is usually a long pause.

Most executives consider a job search campaign to be the act of sitting at a computer for over 4 hours a day filling out online applications.  Some executives will include a resume distribution service or some form of resume writing assistance and believe that they are on their way to the job of their dreams and are doing everything they need too.

This is not a job search campaign.  This is also what the majority of job seekers are doing with no success.  It is baffling that people continue to expect better results than others even though they are doing the exact same things.  There is currently an estimated 1 job for every 6 job seekers, and with that kind of competition you have to do what others are not to set yourself apart.  Let me say it again, “You have to do what others are not.”

“So what do I do then?”, is the question that always follows.

Listen to the experts and network.  Below you will find a list of five actions I recommend you set as goals to accomplish every day.  I have included 2 resources that will assist you in making this happen.  This is the foundation of a quality job search campaign.  These are also actions that will set you apart from the crowd because very few professionals who are looking for a job are accomplishing these goals.  You will be amazed at how many more interviews you are scheduling, the people you will meet, and how much better you will feel about your chances of securing employment fast.

Job Search – Try to Be an Excellent Interviewee

December 20th, 2011
asked:

With the development of society and economy, more and more university students have graduated from the universities around the world, among which there are many famous and important schools. It means that it will be more and more difficult for graduates to find a job.

And we can obviously see from the more and more crowded recruitment fair where you can only move by being pushed by others. Therefore, if you get a chance to get the interview, you should take care of it. And here I will introduce two “no”s for you to go through the interview more fluently.

1 No Indecent Clothing.

The first one I want to say is the dressing. You should remember that never dress casually. According to the psychology, the first impression will always generate a permanent effect. So a good interviewee should know how to leave a good impression on the interviewers so that they will hire you out of so many competitors finally.

What kind of dress will be suitable? In most cases, the black suit will be perfect. For women, it is better to wear black suit with medium long skirt and also black high heel shoes. For men, black suit will also be proper, but the most important thing is to remember to wear the tie. Usually, black color shows a kind of decency, and good and careful dress will express to the interviewers that you pay much attention to this interview, you are anxious to get this job, and also, it helps you tell the interviewers that you respect them very much.

The Best Approach to Job Search: Blend Traditional and Social Media Tactics

December 18th, 2011
asked:

The most successful job searches are neither dumb luck nor magic. They are developed from strong networks that the job seeker has already built, both online and off. Effective job seekers must integrate social media outreach with the more traditional approach in order to present a consistent, aligned, professional image.

Recruiters are evaluated in part based on their abilities to screen qualified applicants, so they don’t react well to surprises, such as candidates whose interviews present an entirely different person from what is stated or implied on the resume. Job seekers often forget that human resource professionals are looking for the candidate they saw on paper, online, and in a profile photo-so consistency counts!

The best recommendation is that job seekers include links to their blog, LinkedIn profile, YouTube video resume-whatever online elements they have created-on their traditional resume. Standardize profiles across all social media sites, and link them together.

Candidates must position themselves effectively where recruiters are searching, as well as become content producers in order to attract recruiters directly to them. Bear in mind the current state of the job market:

Fewer jobs are available. More competition exists for those jobs.   More touch points exists for job seekers and recruiters to interact.   Smart job seekers must optimize their personal brand and seek out those who are on the lookout for great candidates.

Phases of the Job Search Cycle

December 12th, 2011
asked:

When searching for a job it helps to think of the process as a cycle rather than a series of steps. This will allow you to constantly evolve the actions you take while performing the job search cycle as you need to due to going after different opportunities. Approaching your job hunt in the job search cycle way will make the sometimes daunting task of finding a job just a bit easier on you.

Basically there are five phases of the job search cycle. These five phases are broken down further below:

1.Get prepared: In this first phase you will need to first asses yourself and your goals. You need to figure out exactly what your skills are and what you want to do for a living. Once you have decided on what type of career you would like to peruse then you need to find out what employers in that field are looking for and what the current job market for that career filed is.

2.Get job leads: Phase two in the job search cycle is finding qualified job leads to go after. This phase requires you pulling out all the stops. You will need to network, look online at sites such as Monster.com and CareerBuilder.com, and you will also need to look in the newspaper. The more job leads you drum up the higher your chances of landing a job.
