job dilemma-police woman or solicitor?
wickedfairy asked:
Next year I will graduate with a law degree I would love to become a solicitor but to get a master is a major pain on the ass, basically there is 150 places in the Institute of Legal Studies and only 75 Masters. My back up plan was to join the police and work my way up increasing my salary as I go along but in Northern Ireland yet, that’s a big step for a Catholic Female to do,but I’m pretty much guaranteed a job while I could go do the Institute exam and have no Master and no job essentially.I guess what I’m asking is what would you recommend, job satisfaction or job security in today’s economic downturn and gloom?

p.s I did work experience in a solicitor’s office and hated the office work but loved the courts

Job security is a lousy reason to choose a career. What I suggest you do is to see if the local police have any volunteer programs that would give you some insight into a career with the police. Sometimes picking a job is a matter of finding the less distasteful alternative.
