If doctors weren’t there to do it, I’d hate to think about the other methods women would go through to get the process done.

so a woman who gets raped or raped by a family member doesnt have the right to abort?

Doctors are here to help people.
Maybe you don’t agree with abortion, but it’s damn helpful for some people.
Like rape victims.

Perhaps they too believe it’s a womans right to decide. Plus, the pay is good and it’s admirable for a person to stand up for what they believe.

i wonder about that to, like did they just wake up one morning in medical school and say i want to specialize in abortions? is that what they gave their second grade “what i want to be when i grow up” projects on? i think any job that would shock the teacher and get them sent to a guidance counselor shouldnt be a job. i love how so many of the responders used rape as a reason why they do it, even though rape and incest combined account for less then 1% of abortions, what about the other 99%? i mean the main principal prefect that is practically drilled into their heads during medical school, and the main modo of doctors is “Primum non nocere”, meaning “First do no harm”, isnt killing a perfectly healthy fetus, just because the mom doesnt want it or was to irresponsible to use a condom, doing harm?

There are many cases where abortion is not only humane, but necessary. And, as another poster has pointed out, what about victimes of rape and/or incest. Do you think it a better path to take for a 12-year old girl to have a child when that poor soul was raped by her father or brother? Or any of the many other dreadful cirumstances under which she became pregnant? Would it be better for her, in her desperation, to go to a back-street abortionist?
It’s all very well to sit back and say that abortion is a sin but we don’t all subscribe to the same ethos and what works for one doesn’t work for another. When everything is said and done, there isn’t another person on the face of the earth (male or female) who has any right to impose their beliefs on my, or your, body.

I can’t believe all of the ‘thumbs down’ to the people that are saying abortion is ok for a woman or children that have been victims of incest or rape. Would you really want your sister or mother to have the baby of one of these animals??? Put yourself in the place of these women before you judge them or the doctors that are there to help them! Now, if it is a woman that simply does not use prevention, but it was consensual sex, now that might be different. But i would still not judge her. Every woman has the right to do as she wishes with her own body!!
