Do you think being a EMT is a good career choice?

I am 19 and i am starting my EMT classes at my local junior college to get my certifications to become a EMT.I think it is a good choice of a career or at least for the next few years until i get more experience and move up.Just wondering what other EMT’s think that have been one for a while and other people. I was picking either to become a EMT or police officer. Either one i knew i would be making a difference in peoples lives.

career choice
I took the class back in highschool it was good, ok so i didn’t pass but I took because a friend did but anyways one of the guys that took the class is still an EMT or higher up after about 8 years and he also became a police officer. So i would say do both. Good luck stay safe.

Being an EMT is a very rewarding career. You’re right being an EMT for a few years will give you some good exposure on proper ways and etiquette as working in the emergency services field. When you have gotten some more exposure in the field, you will be able to go into the field of being a paramedic. Paramedics are at various levels. There are Basic Paramedic, Emergency Paramedic and Advanced life support. But it will look really good to see that you’re an EMT on the resume when you go to apply for Paramedic school. Good luck!

Yes! It’s a great job. The only thing is you have to be able to handle some extremely gruesome and sad situations. You have to be able to think on your feet in a very tough situation.
