career choice?
(Beautiful Disaster) asked:
i’m 5’8 and 117 pounds and i’m thinking of becoming a model. i get told that often. i’m wondering though, if i could use all my abilties. i can sing, dance, act, compose, draw, paint, and i’m #1 in my class. is this a good career choice for me? do you have any ideas?

If you can do so much why not try more than one thing? I would personally do modeling on the side. I say this b/c modeling is just about your looks. what
do you do later in life when they have faded? I would defitenly have a better option that ca nbe long term and enjoy modeling as a side option.

I wouldn’t, even if you are good its a dog eat dog field. It’s not worth it in my opinion.

If you go straight to modelling and later decide to give it up, you have no qualifications to rely on. Maybe go to university or whatever and then become who you want to become.

career choice
If you are number one in your class, and have as many talents as you say you do, I am not sure you would like that particular career choice in the end. Sure, its nice to have everyone think you are gorgeous. But, if you are someone who likes a challenge and is ambitious, I think you would end up hating it eventually. I think that if you can sing and dance why not go for something like Broadway? Your looks can get you far in that area and you would be using some of your talents. Don’t let me ruin a chance at something great though! After all, I am just a stranger replying to a question. (c:

No doubt you are pretty etc…., but modeling is a harsh world, and perhaps people tell you that to compliment you. Even if you are good at modeling, there is no insurance that you will suceed (you also are a bit shorter than most runway models), and modeling is more of a thing to do when you ae young. There are also so many other things that you could do- you seem to have a lot of potential. If you are set on modeling, maybe try to get your career started now- join a modeling agency so you might get a job modeling for a place like delias or nordstroms or hechts, and you can test that field out so you can have other options if you decide not to go into modeling.
Also, you could try something else in the performing or fashion world- maybe be a clothes designer or an actor (they don’t need to have such extreme looks as runway models). Since you can draw and paint, maybe you can be a set designer, or you seem to have a wide variety of talents in the performing area- maybe a director. If you like any of these ideas, maybe get involved in them now- join your school play or take workshops. But good luck

Follow your heart! Perhaps you should try out for American Idol! Go to a local talent agency, schedule a consultation with them, they could tell you!

you should do this on the side. or since your so smart, you can get a degree in whatever you were looking at and once you are done with that, if you really want to, you can become a full time model. that way, if the modeling business doesnt exactly work out for you, you will still have that degree to back you up and begin that carreer.

no one can choose your future. i was told to be a singer, a painter. i’m now a Radiologic tech (x-ray, mri). its up to the person, its what you want to be. i have seen many in my school who are amazing in singing, etc, but are like bio majors.
its your choice, what’s gonna make you happy? do you want to sing, do you want to dance, do you want to mix chemicals?
its what your heart wants

This really isn’t the best place to come for answers on what you should be in life. Don’t ever let anybody tell you what or who you should be. The only thing people here can do is recommend or give advice. You are still in your teens and time will tell. Things and people change and interests develop into other interests.
Models have it rough, my sister did this. She had it well too, the perfect weight without diets or other nonsense. She did it for about three years before going to art school. But, that was her. You should ask yourself what you love to do most. Don’t do something because you think it will draw attention to you or because of the money. Doing what you love in life should never be about the money, the status, or the fame, it should be because you love it and because it was what you were put here on this earth to do for the benefit of others.
I will tell you, models, depending on what type you are. There are hand models, facial models, leg and feet models, full-body models and even varying face models for lips, nose, eyes, even hair. In any case, you must look your best at times, treat your body with the most proper and expensive care available. Not that you can’t do this, but, it can actually be physically and psychologically stressful.
Committing to art can be stressful too, but, there are also so many branches to art, (singing, dancing, culinary arts, composing, writing, metal and wood crafts, drawing, painting, scuplting, etc. etc.). Art goes very deep, like a trees roots into the hard earth. Art can be difficult to learn, but a blessed challenge for all those who are in tuned with it. Whatever it is you want, then, go for it. And yes, you will probably change your mind, but don’t let it happen because somebody else is doing it for you. Change your mind because you want to.
You have to ask yourself what you are really good at, what you excel in the most and well. Take this, study it, research it, practice in it, major your heart, soul and mind into it. It will be challenging, but, in the end, you will reap the many benefits that you initially set out for. Arts take a lifetime to learn and a dedicated person to master.
Best luck with whatever it is you decide and seek for
your soul’s desire.
Happy Holidays!
